Talking Like Rain

An experimental adaptation of classic Tennessee Williams one act plays through the vision and direction of James Franco. The dynamic worlds Dance, Theater, & Film come together to create a extra-sensory performance experience. Talking Like Rain explores the archetypal characters of Tennessee Williams worlds in a new light by allowing the genders of the actors and characters to be fluid, challenging our preconceived notions of relationship & normative gender roles.
Alexandria along with her long time collaborator Madison Shelpuk emphasize these themes with an all female cast of dancers, who are tasked with embodying the inner psyche of these complex characters. The result a movement language compiled of gesture that points at the confines of gender expectation and the inner turmoil of trying to fit the box.
